Goth started in England during the early 80s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the Post punk. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify.
Styles of dress from deathrock, punk and Victorian style, or combinations of the above, most often with dark attire, makeup and hair.

The Punk subculture emerged in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia in the mid-1970s.
Punks seek to outrage others with the highly theatrical use of clothing, hairstyles, makeup, tattoos, jewellery and body modifications

Early Punk fashion adapted everyday objects for aesthetic effect: ripped clothing was held together by safety pins or wrapped with tape; ordinary clothing was customised with marker or adorning it with paint; a black bind liner became a dress, shirt or skirt; safety pins and razor blades were used as jewellery.
